DESCRIPTION:Call to Meeting: Endorsements\nA Message from the Chair\nHi Everyone\, \nWe look forward to hosting you via Zoom for our Monday\, May 18 Endorsements Meeting at 7pm. You will need to pre-register for the meeting\, which you can do here: \nRegister Here \nThis endorsement meeting will be different than ones in the past\, not just because we are meeting virtually. \nCandidates meeting a 60% threshold (among eligible voters) will receive an endorsement\, but due to limitations of technology and budget\, there will be no secret balloting. Instead\, eligible members in good standing and PCOs (elected and appointed) will indicate their preferences using the Zoom’s yes/no voting features. \nEach individual nominated for an endorsement will receive a yes/no vote\, with those candidates receiving the most “yes” votes moving on to the next round of voting until two candidates remain. Should no candidate meet the 60% threshold\, a motion may be considered for dual endorsement. \nThe Executive Board unanimously approved these small changes to retain the vast majority of our previous endorsements rules. SUMMARY:2020 State Democratic Lobby Day
DESCRIPTION:This month\, the Washington State Legislature is returning to Olympia for its even-numbered-year short session\, which will run from mid-January to mid-March. The Washington State Democratic Party Advocacy Committee is providing a Lobby Day opportunity for grassroots leaders to learn about this year’s legislative priorities and connect with our lawmakers. There is no cost to participate and all Democratic activists are welcome. Please use the form below to register. \nLobby Day will be held at the Olympia offices of the Washington State Labor Council\, AFL-CIO\, beginning at 9 AM. Please leave yourself plenty of time for travel\, as morning rush hour can be awful\, and parking near the Capitol Campus can be difficult to find. \nWe suggest carpooling with people from your county or legislative district and using the free DASH Shuttle to get around if your parking spot is in a lot that’s some distance from the WSLC offices and Capitol. You can also take transit to Olympia; Intercity Transit operates an express bus between the Tacoma Dome Station and the Washington State Capitol. Learn more about that option here. \nIt is important to note that participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. The state party is unable to provide any transportation to or from this event.

DESCRIPTION:A note from the organizer:\nI am holding a rally on Thursday\, August 1st from 6 – 8PM in front of the Washington ICE Headquarters to protest ICE and the Trump Administration in regard to migrants at the Southern Border while concluding with a plausible ask. Just a few days ago\, Illinois became the first state to ban private immigration detention centers throughout the state. Our ask is that Washington follows their lead by becoming the second state to do so. We believe that now\, in the midst of caging children and xenophobia\, that the Washington legislature would be more incentivized than usual to take this legislation.
